All started as a commemoration. Busses, food, chanting, derbekes. We arrived to Maroun Ras alter 4 hours driving from Beirut. Some youth went out of the path and start running to the border...they are not aware there are mines on the way. Chanting and stones are thrown to the Israeli soldiers hidden between and electric fence and a forest. Impossible to be reached by stones. We hear the first shooting. The first martyr has less than 20 years and is from Ein el Helwe camp next to Saida. The second one 14th. Ambulances arrived finally. Then Lebanese army block Palestinians to reach the electrical fence. “We are all Palestinians, this is our land, we want to be with our brothers down. They are killing them. Do something”. Lebanese army does not interfere, neither UNIFIL. Palestinians throw stones to Lebanese army. Fire continues in the front. Shootings. We throw ourselves to the floor. We cannot run. We cannot move they are mines around us. The men two meter far from my is shot on the heart. Third “Martyr”. Next to him another men is shot on the leg. One men out of desperation takes one of the mines from the floor. We all start running. He wants to through it to the Israeli soldiers. More shoots. A men hurt on the chick, another on the leg, another on the arm….it continues. Lebanese army get all the Palestinian back, but the insist to keep going to the border. The girls push. Lebanese stop them. The men tell the army “don’t touch our women”. The girls start running, free, crazy shouting Palestine towards the fence. “There are mines!! Stop!! Stop!!” The girls stop, some are rescue by some men. I found a 9 years old girl in the front. How did you come here? Where is your mom? I came alone… I want to go there (pointing the fence). The men next to me take her away, back up to the mountain. More Israeli soldiers come. More Lebanese soldier come. The force Palestinians up the mountain, far from the fence by shooting to the air thousands of bullets that sounded as a hell for 10 minutes…we are all on the floor, heads down. One, two, three, four, five….10 women faint and some men carry them up the mountain. Shooting continues. Now gases, we barely can breathy running uphill, no water, gas, shootings, fainting…The shootings continues until we are all up. We don’t know how many dead…I saw 4, they say 15. From where? Rashidie? Ein el helwe? People want to know from which camp. Crying. The “Nakba day” ends up of the hill. “Alahu Akbar”, “Alahu Akbar” scream an old man.
