Demonstrations in Lebanon

The Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) and its alleged accusations implicating Hezbollah’s members in former slain prime minister Rafiq Hariri’s assassination unlash a deep crisis in Lebanon. Eleven members of the 8 March coalition leave the Government, which is dissolved the same day. Monday 24th January pro-Hariri demonstrations burst all over the country. The 25th, in a “day of rage” witnesses thousands of demonstrators burning can trash and pneumatics all over the country. Tripoli gets the most violent demonstrations. Lebanese army is deployed, Saad Hariri call his followers to stop violence and Najib Miqati wins the premiership. He has now to form a new government amid political tension.
